Arrival

Arrival

i'm armed and decorated, scouring with the mudlarks
under a welded sky dragging a molotov hangover
down from that engine howl
and a month in a tiger's jaws
where i have no connection the weight of the ocean

i storm beaches with the carnivores
under a constructed sun nursing a white heat motive
cleaving like a poacher
from a spark into a bonefire
where i have no affection the depth of a canyon

i tarred farms with the war widows
under gut coloured sunsets, the echo of a threnondy
through the mane's of the cavalry
and 27 years in the bronze mouth
where i have no arrival the strength of a martyr

i flared airstrips with the butchers
to lure romantics from the noise of dramatic cities
passed the stagnant canals and dead matterhorn
into the feasting harbours
where i feel no elation the height of an empire

i nested in tanneries and bred a pride of enemies
under a constant traffic sprawl, feeding failure
across from that propeller's drone
through the tonnes of black snow
and nights in the scald tank
where i have no intention of ever leaving
